Latvia hosts North Macedonia in a game from Group G of the European qualifications

Latvia hosts North Macedonia in a game from Group G of the European qualifications. We are going to take a good look at this fixture in Riga in our football tips tonight.

Latvia are the weakest team in this group, being the absolute underdog. In five games played so far in the group, Slavisa Stojanovic’ team suffered five consecutive defeats. In these five games the Latvian team scored just one goal and conceded 19. That’s pretty terrible, there’s no doubt about that.

In their last game just few days ago Latvia visited Austria at the Red Bull Arena and got crushed with 0-6. The visitors’ goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors scored himself an own goal, while Marko Arnautovic scored a brace for the Austrian team. Sabitzer, Laimer and Gregoritsch also scored for the hosts.

Clearly Latvia are having maybe their worst qualifying campaign in their history so far. They’d want this terrible journey to end as soon as possible.

In the same time North Macedonia are fifth in the group with five points won so far. Their record shows one win, two draws and two losses. In their previous game the Macedonians travelled to Israel and won a point with a 1-1 draw in Beer Sheva.

Eran Zahavi opened the score for Israel, but North Macedonia reacted very quickly and equalised with a goal from Arijan Ademi few minutes later. It was a good game by Igor Angelovski’s boys, especially when you consider that Israel were labeled favourites for the clash.

In our football tips tonight we can conclude that despite of playing away, North Macedonia are favourites against Latvia. It’s all related to the terrible performance of the Latvian team so far in this group. For North Macedonia this game is a chance to even climb up to the fourth place in the group, depending on Israel’s result against Slovenia.
