Valencia host Deportivo Alaves at the Estadio Mestalla

Just few days after a dissapointing performance in the Champions League, Valencia host Deportivo Alaves at the Estadio Mestalla. Let’s take a look at it in our La Liga predictions.

After beating Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, Valencia’s fans started hoping that their team will do some wonders in the Champions League this season. Well, during the week they had to get back on Earth, because Ajax offered Los Che a pure football lesson at the Mestalla. The Dutch side won the game with 3-0, dominating Valencia all over the pitch. The fact that Los Che’s captain Dani Parejo missed a penalty kick in the middle of the first half also didn’t help the hosts.

Clearly Valencia are still trying to adapt to the fact that their manager Marcelino left the club and he got replaced by the inexperienced Albert Celades. The win against Chelsea raised the mood at the Mestalla, but now they are once again back to Earth.

In La Liga Valencia are 9th in the standings with 9 points won. They are already four points behind the Top 4, so they should avoid doing many mistakes in the coming month or two. The main goal remains another qualification for the Champions League.

Deportivo Alaves are currently 14th in the standings. Asier Garitano’s team have 8 points and a record of two wins, two draws and three defeats.

In the previous round Alaves enjoyed their second win for the season. They hosted Mallorca at home and celebrated a 2-0 win. Both goals were scored in the last fiftheen minutes, when Lucas Perez and Joselu scored for the hosts.

These are our La Liga predictions for the game between Valencia and Deportivo Alaves on Saturday. Valencia are hurt after their bad performance against Ajax in the Champions League, but this is a good chance for them to get back on the right path.
