Olympique Lyonnais started the new year with a bang. Rudi Garcia’s team visited Bourg-En-Bresse in a game from Coupe de France and celebrated a spectacular 7-0 win. Brest started their 2020 with a defeat which kicked them out of the Coupe de France. Olivier Dall’Oglio’s team paid a visit to Lorient where the regular time ended with a 1-1 draw. Sylvain Marveaux opened the score for Lorient, while Gaetan Charbonnier equalised for Brest. Lorient’s Yoane Wissa put an end to the game with an extra time goal in the 112th minute.

Brest qualified for the Coupe de la Ligue after a 2-0 win over Bordeaux at home in the previous round. Most pundits regarded Bordeaux as favourites, but the game didn’t end very well for them.
